Punish Evil, But Do Not Condemn the Heart; Halt War, But Do Not Extinguish the Spirit

The world today stands at a crossroads where risks and trials intertwine. Smoke of gunpowder lingers, conflicts break out frequently, and the path to peace remains long, yet the estrangement between human hearts deepens by the day. Having endured countless wars, human society has long forged a fundamental consensus: taking necessary actions under the framework of the UN Charter and international law to safeguard life and uphold justice remains a legitimate endeavor.

There is, however, a red line that no country, no force, and no reason shall ever cross: do not "condemn the heart", do not "extinguish the spirit", and still less visit violence upon civilians and children. This is both an ancient tenet of human civilization and a reflection of the core ethics advocated by the Human Creation Convention—creation serves humanity, not human calamity; technology and power shall all serve people, rather than override human nature.

Conflicts in the contemporary era have taken on new dimensions. Intelligent systems, remote means and algorithmic decision-making are profoundly reshaping the form of confrontation. Technology has brought precision, yet the heaviest costs are still often borne by the most vulnerable lives. As weapons and decisions grow increasingly reliant on dehumanized logic, human considerations and ethical boundaries are at risk of being eroded. This is the profound crisis warned against by the Human Creation Convention, and the reason why the ancient wisdom that "creation serves humanity, not human calamity" must be solemnly awakened today.

Recent events have filled us with deep sorrow. The so-called "precision operations" targeting specific spiritual symbols often go beyond physical elimination, and strike directly at the foundation of a belief and the collective identity of a group. Such acts often cross the boundaries of conventional military confrontation, constitute an assault on spiritual and cultural existence, and become a challenge that must be faced squarely in the coexistence of civilizations.

In numerous disputes, civilians bear the heaviest suffering. Places that should be safe are repeatedly affected, and children, who have no connection to the conflicts, carry the deepest scars. This has become a severe humanitarian question for our times.

Spiritual symbols anchor the spiritual home of a community; children carry the future hope of all societies. To destroy the former is to seek to loosen the bonds of identity; to harm the latter is to cut off the root of the future. Even if tactical advantages are gained for a time and in a place, it will ultimately be impossible to win the sincere recognition from the depths of human hearts. Bricks and stones can be destroyed, forms can be altered, yet the cultural memories, the sense of dignity and the spiritual bonds that are deeply rooted in historical context and daily life cannot be erased by force. Suppression through violence sows the seeds of estrangement, and extreme means leave scars that take generations to heal.

True strength and responsibility are never manifested in the unrestrained use of means or the absolute achievement of goals. Instead, they are reflected in the sober choice of what to do and what not to do, and in the profound reverence and adherence to life itself, to the conscience and basic values commonly recognized by humanity.

Punish evil, but do not condemn the heart;Halt war, but do not extinguish the spirit.

We may respond to evil with necessary measures, but we must not raise the blade against goodness; We may take a firm stance against injustice, but we must not inflict harm on the weak.

No matter how great one's power, it is no match for the will of the world; No matter how many means one has, they are no match for the eternal norms of justice and morality.

Whoever disregards the dignity of life, inflicts pain on innocence, or wantonly destroys the spiritual homes and cultural symbols of others, places themselves in opposition to the common civilized values of humanity. Their actions will ultimately receive the due judgment under the scrutiny of human conscience and the witness of history.

I write these words not to blame any party, but to make an earnest appeal for the ordinary lives that silently endure in the turmoil, and for the young figures that fade away in the years when they should be most protected. To guard that most basic radiance of human nature and uphold that unyielding bottom line of civilization is to safeguard the foundation of us as a human community.

May the world return to the path of dialogue and understanding, may the haze of violence dispel soon, may every child grow up safe and sound in a secure environment, may every worthy belief be accorded the tolerance it deserves, and may every precious life be regarded as an end in itself and cherished fully.

Punish evil, but do not condemn the heart; halt war, but do not extinguish the spirit.

This is by no means a frivolous slogan, but an ultimate boundary that must be jointly upheld and not blurred, for different civilizations and nations to move forward side by side and sustain their development.
